Fonteverde is immersed in the lush greenTuscan countryside with its vineyards, olive groves and golden wheat fields. The thermal baths of Fonteverde are 40 minutes by car from the Locanda.

Bicycles
The surrounding territory is suitable for all cyclists to enjoy, even the least expert, with no need for particular preparation. There is not much traffic on local roads so you can enjoy the diverse landscapes with minimum effort in pedalling! Most importantly you can cycle from the Locanda and easily find routes for both experts and beginners.
Bike lovers should note the various local races, tour of the “Città del Tufo” (Pitigliano, Sorano, Sovana) and the Giro della Costa d’Argento and the hills of Capalbio.

The Maremma can be described as an immense natural reserve of particular interest, uninhabited in places, where for centuries animals have found their perfect habitat and the wild herds break the silence led by the infamous “Butteri” cowboys, where the exploits of the highwaymen are remembered with legendary tales.
The tuff terraces rich in history, art and tranquillity offer adventure lovers an opportunity to enjoy the uncontaminated nature surrounding them; Mediterranean scrub, impenetrable canyons, green hills and mountainous areas, rolling countryside dotted with farmhouses, olive groves and orderly lines of vines alternating with barren lands of dark clay and sand with no vegetation at all.
One of the biggest advantages is that you can begin your walking adventure directly from the Locanda on stepping outside the main door.

Horse Riding
Our passion for horses spurred us to realize the Locanda Pantanello. Throughout the farmhouse you will come across many equestrian collectors items characterizing the ambiance. The property owners, expert local horsemen, assure you of a unique horseback experience over the hills of the “Città del Tufo”, a wonderful way to appreciate the beautiful natural territory. You can start your adventure directly from the Locanda on horseback following the network of tracks and paths over the hills and surrounding countryside.
SERVICES:
- Box and paddock horse lodgings for those who wish to come on holiday with their horse.
- Trekking and guided horse routes are organised by the riding stables just 10 kilometres from the Locanda.

Golf
20 min drive from the Inn, inside the Hotel Terme di Saturnia Spa complex, awaits a championship course of 6316 meters on 70 hectares moved. A field surrounded by the countryside of the Maremma, the only one in Italy to be penciled by Californian architect Ronald Fream of Studio Golfplan.

Night Safari
Experience something unique with your family in the middle of nature… a night safari!
After dinner the owner will take you out in his jeep to explore the woodlands and fields lit up by the full moon. There is a distinct possibility you will meet some wild animals such as porcupines, wild boars, roe deer, foxes, weasels, hares or night birds of prey. Relish these emotions in a part of Tuscany that remains wild and unspoiled and yet offers an incredible experience never to be forgotten!
The safari is only possible in the months of July and August and can obviously only take place if the owner is available.
EXPERIENCES
Oil And Wine Tasting
Approximately 4 hectares of our property are used for the production of organic oil.
Our plantation of typical Tuscan and upper Lazio olive trees gives us a balanced and pleasant oil.
The months of November and December are dedicated to the olive harvest which is still done by hand. Subsequently the olives are taken to the oil mill of the Pitigliano winery which extracts the precious “green gold” through cold pressing.
Guests can taste our oil as per tradition on Tuscan bread or expertly prepared in the kitchen by Morena.
Wine
We work together with numerous local wine producers and on request would be pleased to organise a visit accompanied by the tasting of wines and some typical local products. Please contact us for further information.
